Reading list

  • Hayt & Buck, Engineering Electromagnetics. The standard for EM at the senior undergraduate level. Slow, thorough, with worked examples.
  • Griffiths, Introduction to Electrodynamics. Beautifully written, used in physics departments everywhere. Slightly more mathematical.
  • Kittel, Introduction to Solid State Physics. The classic on band theory and lattice physics.
  • Streetman & Banerjee, Solid State Electronic Devices. Bridges from physics to actual transistors.
  • Sze, Physics of Semiconductor Devices. The encyclopedic reference. Buy it later, when you are designing chips for a living.
  • Saleh & Teich, Photonics. For lasers, optical fibers, and photonic devices.
